Sports Activities

1947-1948, For the first time in the history of Winthrop High School, girls basketball and field hockey were organized and and we were able to participate in an interscholastic schedule. It was the first time that I played on school teams. I was in the 11th and 12th grades in 1947-48, and only had these two years out of 12 to participate in girls sports in public school. There was nothing available for us in the earlier years.

1948-1949, I bowled for Rustcraft's bowling league and played on the Company's softball team.

1950-1951, All-American Girls Professional Baseball League

1951-1955 Suffolk University. Founded, coached, and played for Suffolk University's first Women's basketball team. Founded Suffolk's first Women's Athletic Association.

1952-1954, Played softball nights and weekends for Lynn PAL Colleens. Won Metropolitan Boston Championship one year

1955-1957, Played and managed women's softball team, the East Boston Collegiates. Won City of Boston Division Championship in 1955 & 1956, and came in second in the North-Atlantic Regional Tournament.

1955-1956, Coached and played for Jets basketball team, a member of the Women's A.A.U. Basketball League.
